I create digital works on my iPad Pro via the application Procreate. I design idealized representations of female icons of history, specifically the 6 Queens of Henry VIII. Employing relevant fashion sketches from the era and portraits done by Hans Holbein as reference as I work. I simplify their dresses to avoid distraction but maintain the silhouette in accordance with my references. Inspired by the works of artist Alphonse Mucha, I fill each background with a unique mandala. Each one is made especially for each Queen and acts as a framing device. I make these images to show my interpretation of the personalities of each Queen while portraying them in an angelic manner.
