Megan Chandler

Horror has always been my favorite genre. It evokes fear and intrigue at the same time. The haunting elements are what I focus on in this series. My work aims to make you want to look over your shoulder, make you feel like someone is watching you. Some of my pieces in this series consists of bead-embroidered eyes and a miniature haunted room with handmade furniture. The visuals can be goofy at times, but that entices you to let your guard down. The artists Kim Myatt and Angela Dean share very similar qualities of their art with this body of work. I’m also inspired by movies such as Poltergeist, which I grew up watching, and The Cabin in the Woods. While one’s horror is a little cheesier, the other’s is very graphically monstrous. I take from each of those and put it into my art.
