Zoe Zalenski

I am a multimedia artist that primarily works in video editing. I am inspired by the human subconscious and I enjoy exploring synaesthesia and dream-like states. Similarly to how Wassily Kandinsky paints, I utilize auditory senses to create a visual experience in my work. I also study movement and dance, which I tie into the subconscious by showcasing natural movement. My videos encompass a combination of videos that I record and found footage that I rework. I am interested in displaying my time based work in both traditional and non traditional settings. The experience that I create in my gallery installations is heavily influenced by Pipilott Rist’s work. I am inspired by the impact of her large scale projections and their ability to seemingly transport her audience to a different place.
